What Can GMIS Illinois Do for You?
GMIS Illinois serves as a catalyst, meeting the various and unique needs of government technology leaders by:
- Providing training and educational seminars
- Sharing technology evaluations
- Sharing cost-effective practices
- Facilitating joint procurement of goods and services
- Surveying members on relevant issues
- Sharing Requests for Qualifications or Proposals and bids
- Providing opportunities for vendors and professionals to educate members in an impartial and ethically sound environment
- Fostering an environment for the creation of shared resources to solve problems, procure technology products, and common services

Membership is by agency so you can register multiple employees as participants under one membership.
Vendors are welcome and encouraged to join as associate members as well.
How Does GMIS Illinois Do All This?
GMIS Illinois is a member-driven Illinois chapter of GMIS International. Given the number and types of government agencies and the state’s geography, GMIS Illinois develops, grows, and is driven by cross fertilization—members bringing in members. GMIS Illinois facilitates and supports the interests and needs of its membership, without regard to size or type of publicly-funded agency at every level including state agencies, municipalities, counties, parks and recreation districts, school districts, and public libraries.
While the core membership is made up of these public entities, GMIS Illinois associate members are vendors interested in providing solutions and resources for the membership. This unique relationship is mutually beneficial as these associate members contribute to help fulfill the organization’s mission to exchange and promote new ideas and technology solutions.
Since GMIS Illinois is a technology organization, we use technology to foster communication with and among members. A GMIS Illinois discussion forum, website, chat rooms, and regular meetings are all used for member communication. With communication comes knowledge, and opportunities for sharing, cost savings, and efficiency.
How Can My Organization Join GMIS Illinois?
Click the membership sign-up link at the bottom of the menu bar to begin the registration process. Use the same link whether you are a taxing body seeking regular membership or a vendor seeking to become an associate member. All applications for membership are presented to our board for approval, which is usually complete in less than a week.
